GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1: Fully Supports the Indonesian Soccer Competition

JAKARTA, 10 April 2017 - Two biggest Indonesia’s technology enterprises, GO-JEK – the leading on-demand mobile platform and application services, and Traveloka – the leading travel booking app for domestic and international destinations, have officially teamed up to support the Liga 1 Competition Event. Liga 1 is the highest level of soccer league in Indonesia, which is later named as GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1. This competition will be started on April, 15th 2017 in Bandung with the primary match of Bandung VS Arema FC.

The full support from Traveloka and GO-JEK to this competition shows the spirit of both companies in promoting Indonesian soccer. The support by GO-JEK and Traveloka for Liga 1 is the proof of the uprising of the digital economy in Indonesia in which this is the first time in Indonesian soccer history that the two homegrown tech giant are becoming the main sponsor for one season.

Took place at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, the press conference of GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1 is attended by the Executive Director PT Liga Indonesia Baru (PT LIB), Berlinton Siahaan, who said, “As the official organizer operator of GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1, PT LIB is very pleased by the support and the partnership between GO-JEK and Traveloka with us and PSSI. For us, this is the symbol of new spirit optimism in raising the national soccer.”

Chief of PSSI, Edy Rahmayadialso attended on the same occasion. From his point of view, PSSI really appreciates the support of GO-JEK and Traveloka on this season. “We hope that the GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1 can boost back the people’s enthusiasm towards the national soccer, especially among the youth,” Edy said.

The GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1 Soccer Competition is set to hold throughout 34 weeks and will end on November, 12th 2017. This competition features 18 soccer clubs from various regions in Indonesia.

GO-JEK Indonesia Chief Marketing Officer, Piotr Jakubowski said, “GO-JEK is very proud to be the part of organizing Liga 1. We acknowledge there is the spirit of micro economy, in which each match involves the wheel of economy that moves engaging the small entrepreneur. The spirit suits the GO-JEK’s missions to empowering the micro-entrepreneur and small entrepreneur. We also hope, through the GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1, the Indonesian soccer may revive and keep growing positively.”

In addition, Piotr said this partnership may bring GO-JEK to introduce more of its solutions and services to the consumers. “We aim to make the consumers understand that GO-JEK is an on-demand platform where people can find various solutions in their daily life. With only one app, various needs of the soccer fans to watch the Liga 1 match can be fulfilled, ranging from the transportation to the ticket purchase,” said Piotr. Accordingly, some of the GO-JEK services that will support the competition are GO-PAY as the payment affiliation, GO-RIDE and GO-CAR as the transportation affiliation, and GO-TIX as the official sales partner of the match tickets.

The sense of optimism and pride are also emphasized by the Traveloka Head of Marketing, Dannis Muhammad. Dannis stated that soccer is the most favorite sport in Indonesia, which unite people from different background. Therefore, the existence of GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1 in this year will be the significant moment for the soccer lovers in Indonesia.

“We are proud to be the part of the Indonesian soccer history, in which this year is the important moment for the rise of the Indonesian soccer after the vacuum period in recent years. Traveloka’s participation for the succeed Indonesian soccer match is in line with its spirit and mission in enabling mobility for the people, this includes giving the easiness of the travel needs for the soccer players, officials and the loyal fans,” said Dannis.

“Based on the statistic, 687.287 kilometersis the total mileage that clubs have to travel throughout the season. This makes Liga 1 as the longest travel journey (home - away match) in any soccer league in the world. Therefore, Traveloka is ready to fully support the league with our products and services,” Dannis added.

“By fully supporting the GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1, the loyal fans of Indonesian soccer team can experience the easiness of booking a flight, train ticket, and hotel. With just one mobile app, fans can always support their favorite team, especially on away matches,” Dannis explained.

On the press conference of the GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1 Launch, PT LIB introduced the official jersey for the referees and the players of the whole 18 participant clubs, the official ball, and the official anthem of the GO-JEK Traveloka Liga 1.

The 18 clubs who will participate on this competition are Arema FC, Bali United, Barito Putera, Bhayangkara FC, Madura United, Mitra Kukar, Persiba Balikpapan, Persib Bandung, Persela Lamongan, Persegres Gresik United, Perseru Serui, Persija Jakarta, Persipura Jayapura, Pusamania Borneo FC, PS TNI, PSM Makassar, Semen Padang and Sriwijaya FC.
