Supporting Kemenparekraf’s Efforts to Revive the Tourism Sector, Traveloka and Atourin Introduces the First Interactive Virtual Tour in Southeast Asia

Jakarta, 8 October 2020 – Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading digital travel and lifestyle booking platform, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenparekraf), launched the first tourism innovation in Southeast Asia, namely the Virtual Tour from Online Xperience, an alternative solution that exclusively for Traveloka users to get an exciting, interactive, and inspiring experience in a variety of beautiful domestic tourist destinations without leaving home. Traveloka also collaborates with PT Atourin Teknologi Nusantara (Atourin), a technology company that provides offline and online services in the tourism sector, including the development of virtual tour content in Indonesia.

The presence of the Virtual Tour from Online Xperience is a manifestation of Traveloka’s commitment in supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to accelerate the recovery of Indonesian tourism industry. With the utilization of technology, Traveloka has made a positive contribution to the tourism sector, including for tour guides, to keep them productive in the midst of pandemic situation. Currently, Virtual Tour by Online Xperience offers 15 tourist destinations from 7 provinces in Indonesia, including Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua. These 15 tourist destinations will be available on the Traveloka application in stages throughout 2020. Traveloka users can enjoy a number of destinations in Bali, then Labuan Bajo in November.

Each destination on the Virtual Tour by Online Xperience has a variety of available schedules and travel times, ranging from 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes. Traveloka users will get detailed travel plans (itineraries) to tourist destinations and will be guided by the tour guide, starting from the departure from the airport, accommodation recommendations, to the desired tourist destination. Users can experience the whole exciting, interesting, and comfortable travel experience from home, or from anywhere, with very affordable ticket prices, starting from IDR 50,000.

In the InDOnesia CARE campaign, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also collaborated with many parties, including Atourin and the Indonesian Tour Guides Association (HPI) to hold training for guides related to the concept of virtual tour activities, so that tour guides can understand how to guide tours digitally.
