Supporting Lombok Tourism, Traveloka Hand Overs Donation through Palang Merah Indonesia

Jakarta, 13 September 2018 – Today, Traveloka formally hand overs Traveloka Tanggap donation through Palang Merah Indonesia. The donation was handovered by Dannis Muhammad, Chief Marketing Officer Traveloka to dr. Ritola Tasmaya, General Secretary of Palang Merah Indonesia. The fundraising for Lombok earthquake victims through Traveloka Tanggap took place from August 10 to August 24, 2018. Traveloka Tanggap successfully managed to raise funds amounting to IDR 592,919,203 within two weeks.

Dannis Muhammad, Chief Marketing Officer Traveloka said, “Traveloka Tanggap is one of Traveloka social care initiatives which involves its users and is dedicated for our beloved relatives in Lombok. We deeply appreciate our users’ generosity and enthusiasm to redeem their Traveloka Poin through Traveloka Tanggap. The donation will be distributed through Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), which will be utilized to help the residents’ needs and rebuild Lombok tourism sector.”

Since its first 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Lombok in early August, National Disaster Mitigation Agency’s (BNBP) recorded as per 21 August 2018, there has been at least 515 casualties and 7,145 victims. Not only once or twice, smaller earthquakes also rocked Lombok even until three weeks after the first earthquake. On Sunday, September 8, aftershocks with magnitude 5.1 also hit Lombok.

Unpredictable natural disasters have caused anxiety for Lombok residents, especially those who are still living in refugee camps. Nevertheless, there are a lot of parties who excitedly joined hand in hand, in helping Lombok and its surrounding areas. Traveloka, as a leading technology company that provides an online travel and lifestyle booking for domestic and international destinations, also paid attention and took this opportunity to invite its users to donate their points through Traveloka Tanggap.

The General Secretary of Palang Merah Indonesia, dr. Ritola Tasmaya, who also attended and received Traveloka Tanggap donation, delivered his positive feedback in response to Traveloka’s intention. “On behalf of Lombok residents, we would like to extend our gratitude for initiating Traveloka Tanggap. Any contributions will definitely make a big impact for our relatives in Lombok and its surrounding areas. After passing the emergency stage, PMI focuses on supporting the recovery stage where medical assistance, temporary shelter as well as water and sanitation hygiene (WASH) are highly needed. We hope this donation would help in accelerating the recovery process, especially in tourism area”.
