Traveloka Invites Travelers to Xperience Wonderful Indonesia Hub at Changi Airport

Singapore, 12 October 2019Traveloka, the leading digital travel and lifestyle platform in Southeast Asia, through its business unit, Traveloka Xperience, has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, and Changi Airport Group to invite travelers from Singapore to virtually experience some of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia. Starting from 12 October to 6 November 2019, visitors can visit the interactive, virtual reality (VR) Xperience Wonderful Indonesia Hub booth at Terminal 3 (T3) of Changi Airport, level Basement 2.

Featuring top-rated tourist destinations, the VR experience booth will take travelers all around Indonesia including Bali, Banyuwangi, Riau Islands, West Java, Sumba, Rapatwaken (Raja Ampat, Wakatobi, Bunaken), Jakarta, Lombok, Joglosemar (Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang), Makassar, and Ambon. In addition to the virtual travel experience, visitors will also get a chance to explore the Xperience Pedestal where they can find travel tips and inspirations to attractions such as the famous Borobudur temple and the picturesque landscape of Lake Toba.

Indonesia has identified Singapore as a tourism hub this year serving as a major aviation gateway for the nation. Over 7,400 flights fly from and to Changi Airport in a week attracting travelers not only from Asia but also from other regions in the world.

“We are excited to partner with Traveloka in supporting the growth of Indonesia’s tourism industry,” said Ir. Rizki Handayani M., Deputy of Marketing Development I of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. “Through the Xperience Wonderful Indonesia Hub, we are able to feature most of super priority tourism destinations, including Danau Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo, that will be a priority as we look to reach the 20 million tourist visits target this year.”

Officially opened on Saturday, 12 October 2019 by Christian Suwarna, CEO of Traveloka Experience, H.E. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya, Ambassador of Indonesia to Singapore, Ir. Rizki Handayani M., Deputy of Marketing Development I of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and Lim Ching Kiat, Managing Director, Air Hub Development of Changi Airport Group, the Xperience Wonderful Indonesia Hub booth aims to connect travelers from and to Changi Airport to destinations across Indonesia.

Lim Ching Kiat, Managing Director of Air Hub Development at Changi Airport Group said, “Changi Airport is well-connected to Indonesia, with over 500 weekly flights to 13 cities. This interactive exhibit will give Singapore residents an opportunity to find out more about Indonesia’s attractions and add these new destinations to their travel plans. We hope the exhibit will also inspire tourists passing through Changi Airport to discover new locations in Indonesia, and pair Singapore with these destinations on their next visit to Southeast Asia.”

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, H.E. Ngurah Swajaya, said, “Singapore’s role as a major aviation gateway that connecting international travelers cannot be overlooked. The Indonesian government sees Singapore's strategic role as a tourism hub. To strengthen the tourism partnership, there is a twinning destination cooperation agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Singapore. Therefore, we appreciate and fully support the partnership of Xperience Wonderful Indonesia Hub, and we hope that this will inspire more tourists to visit and directly experience the Wonderful Indonesia.”
